As a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that receives no government funding, ARF relies entirely on the support of friends in the community to sustain its operations and programs. We encourage you to join us! Some of the ways you can help are listed below, but don't hesitate to contact us about other opportunities.
Financial Donations As a volunteer run, tax exempt 501(c)3 organization, we rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of animal lovers near and far to help us do our work. Financial gifts are the lifeblood of our program. We'll happily give you a donation receipt for your contribution. To make a donation on-line, please click here. To send a donation through the mail, please send it to our facility address: 4545 E. Dakota Ave., Fresno, CA 93726.
Volunteer at the Facility Our facility houses more than 50 dogs which takes quite a bit of work to meet all of their daily needs. ARF relies on volunteers to operate and maintain the facility. Click here for more information about volunteering.
Foster Homes Take a rescue dog into your home for a number of weeks, get to know it, do some training in manners etc., help find a suitable adopter. ARF pays for the dogs food and vet care. Click here for more information about fostering.
Sponsor-A-Dog Program Many of our rescued dogs need special care, such as surgeries or other extensive medical treatment. Others just don't seem to “sell” themselves well at adoptions - even the sweetest dogs can go unnoticed by potential adopters, simply because they are shy or too "average" looking. Or maybe you have fallen in love with a dog that you saw on our adoption page or at our facility, but you are unable to bring an animal into your home right now.
For all of these reasons, we have created the Sponsor-A-Dog Program, which allows you to donate money to help a specific dog at ARF.
Click here to learn more about how you can help. There you will be able to make a quick and secure online donation to sponsor the dog of your choice.
Helping at Adoption Events Being at Adoption Events to hold dogs, talk to and help potential adopters; give information and just generally make sure people are taken care of and things run as efficiently and smoothly as possible.
Training and Behavioral Help Professional trainers/behaviorists who give their time either in person or via email or phone to help our adopters/fosterers with problems.
Walking and Socializing ARF Dogs Taking time with individual rescue dogs who are at the ARF facility, to walk, train, socialize; and get to know them.
Transporting Dogs To adoption days, to and from vet appointments, to foster homes etc.
Fundraising and Donations Finding ways to raise funds; helping with annual ARF Open House event; contacting businesses to donate items for auctions; contacting pet stores etc. for donations of dog food, supplies etc.
Other Volunteer Opportunities - Staff booths at events - Maintenance at the ARF facility - Do promo work, like putting up flyers for rescue in various locations - Contact local newspapers about free ads or running stories on our dogs - Anything you have experience with that could contribute to our effort
